PULP Magazine Drops its HEAVIEST ISSUE YET with Slipknot and Iron Maiden on Back-to-Back Covers
With its upcoming last Issue for the year 2019, PULP Magazine is topping off its 20th year in print by having Slipknot and Iron Maiden on its back-to-back covers. Before the year ends, PULP is pulling out all stops to bring you what might just be its HEAVIEST ISSUE YET: Issue No. 203.
One thing that Slipknot and Iron Maiden have in common is their immeasurable influence in the world of Metal. Both are enormous institutions, and both have made an immense impact that will perhaps last generations. Throughout the course of over four decades, Iron Maiden has made heavy music immortal; Slipknot, on the other hand, has continued to breathe new life into it. Although a generation apart, both Iron Maiden and Slipknot are among the biggest names to have ever walked the music world. ...
Slipknot have just released their highly-anticipated new album, We Are Not Your Kind, staying true to their core while still crossing new frontiers in their continuing journey. Approaching 25 years of unrelenting ferocity, the masked nine-man band has undoubtedly been among the most sought-after acts by Metal fans all over the world, legions upon legions of Filipino fans included. They continue to achieve greater feats, having recently topped the UK charts and ending the reign of a popstar we need not name. Slipknot's current success speaks volumes about how Metal remains to be a massive force in music, with a band of their caliber breaking down even more barriers and finally, they are coming to Manila for a show that had been about 15 years in the making. #SLIPKNOTLiveInManila happens on March 29, 2020 at the Amoranto Stadium.
Iron Maiden, on the other hand, stands as the most iconic heavy metal band to ever exist. Just look at the numbers: over 90 million albums sold worldwide, over 2000 live performance across 63 countries and counting, tens of millions of fans, and 16 studio albums, countless sold-out stadiums, and more. Continuing an enduring legacy in music, the band is currently headlining stadiums and festivals on their Legacy of the Beast Tour, stunning their worldwide audiences with a spectacular stage set and live performance that further cement the band's place as the greatest metal band of all time. The legendary Metal Gods are set to headline PULP SUMMER SLAM XX: Judgement Day, happening on May 16, 2020 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Coming together on PULP Magazine Issue No. 203 back-to-back, Slipknot and Iron Maiden are set to make this upcoming Issue one of the most iconic we've ever published throughout PULP's two decades of groundbreaking history.
We look forward to bringing this jam-packed issue to Filipino music fans who will sure be thrilled by our massive Cover Stories and other features: Silverstein and As I Lay Dying—both coming here in Manila in January 2020, and a playlist we curated with Tiny Moving Parts ahead of their February concert. Awsten Knight has also spoken to PULP about the newest Waterparks album!
We get you ready for #PSS20JudgementDay with an in-depth interview with Vernon Go on the Festival’s two decades of Mayhem. We throw it back with stories on some of the most memorable alumni of the Festival, beginning with Shadows Fall and Death Angel. We acquaint you with next year’s supporting acts, KING 810 and BABYMETAL. Lastly, as the full might of the Beast descends on the Philippines, we have folks from the local scene weigh on on Maiden’s immeasurable legacy.
Plus, we’ve got another diverse roster of PULP Homegrown acts featured: Pikoy, In Times of Despair, Itim Na Ulap, Earl Generao, Herbulation, Bentedos, The Birth of Venus, CLR, and COLN.
