LEGIONS OF FILIPINO HEAVY METAL FANS WILL REJOICE AS ARCH ENEMY RETURNS TO MANILA

 The ground will rumble and the heavens will shake, as sonic chaos is slated to ensue this second quarter of 2024 as Swedish melodic death metal legends ARCH ENEMY are returning to the Philippines this May 15^th, 2024 to proudly wave the flag for local metal afficionados, and prove that the force of extreme music is, indeed, alive, well and stronger than ever worldwide.

Produced by PULP Live World – still the undisputed advocate of all things hard rock and metal in the country – the show is to be held at the Skydome, SM City North Edsa.

Dubbed Arch Enemy Deceivers Asia Tour 2024, this will be Arch Enemy’s third visit to Manila via PULP Live World, as the band first performed 14 years ago in October 2009 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, and later returned in 2012 to headline PULP Summer Slam 12: The Apostles, the largest hard rock/metal festival in Southeast Asia. Both performances proved the band’s live performance intensity and penchant for gloriously loud sing-along anthems, as faithful metalheads from all over the country trooped to both shows and created some of the most memorable mosh pits in local history.

This time around, it will be the band’s first time to perform with singer Alissa White-Gluz and guitarist Joey Concepcion.

Originally formed in Halmstad, Sweden as a supergroup consisting of members of legendary outfits like CARCASS, MERCYFUL FATE and NEVERMORE to name a distinguished few, Arch Enemy rose to prominence by the year 2000 when former front woman and songwriter Angela Gossow took the reins and created some of the most memorable live anthems with guitarist Michael Amott, drummer Daniel Erlandsson, bassist Sharlee D’Angelo and former guitarist Christopher Amott. Armed with brutal technical proficiency and an unmistakable Swedish melodic death metal trademark, anthems like “Nemesis” and “My Apocalypse” were spawned. By 2011, the band was still championing the genre and released Khaos Legions which featured another mosh anthem “Yesterday Is Dead and Gone.” In 2014, vocalist Gossow announced her departure as the band’s live singer (though she is still currently involved in the band’s affairs as manager…) and warmly welcomed replacement Alissa White-Gluz, who has carried on the beautifully brutal sonic tradition of the band. Their most recent release was 2022’s Deceivers, which features pummeling tracks “Sunset Over The Empire,” “In The Eye of The Storm” and “Deceiver, Deceiver.”
