NEMIC RELEASES NEW SINGLE “HUWAG MONG TAKASAN”

Always busy as bees, Cavite-based alternative/synthwave act NEMIC recently released an all-new single called “Huwag Mong Takasan,” on all digital music platforms and streaming sites.

The single, which fuses the best elements of modern rock – and traditional styles like funk and even disco – is the band’s first for the year (a follow-up to 2022’s ballad-esque/feel-good ditty “Natatangi”) and is a return-to-roots kind of salvo by its members, namely drummer/vocalist Jheirish Morabe, guitarist Rheimar Daquis, bassist/vocalist Vince Layog, rhythm guitarist Allen Arciaga, and on lead guitar/synth John Cedrich Aguila

It’s mainly a song about people who wish to escape their fate, but in the end, can’t… because everyone has their own destiny,” shares Layog when asked about the track.

We were still in high school when we came up with the song,” Layog recounts, “it was just me and Jheirish, the two of us – but up until the time before we recorded it, the entire band started re-arranging the song: Cedrich added synths and Geo pretty much guided us as far as the flow of the entire song was concerned while Rheimar took care of the overall melodies and vocal arrangements; it’s proof that everything becomes better when we – as a band – work together.”

Nemic, at the moment, does have its collective hands full with performances in and outside the metro under the Handpicked management stable, but the band does express that they want to further keep themselves busy with newer material all throughout the entire year.

“What we really want is to keep releasing music, preferably a song per month, so we have reason to share music, keep playing and further improve our live performances,” says Arciaga. “But honestly, it’s also just an excuse to meet up and hang with all the people who believed in us from the start.” FIN
