RICO BLANCO REINVENTS OPM; MAYDAY PARADE TAKES CENTERSTAGE

Not one known for playing it safe, singer/prolific songwriter RICO BLANCO deconstructs music as we know it and comes out swinging from left-field with his latest release Galactick Fiestamatik, which we reckon is going to blow your minds. Blanco, who talks about space aliens, electronic music, ati-atihan beats and costumes, claims that this could be his grandest failure, or his most ridiculous success. PULP Editor-in-Chief Joey Dizon thinks that Blanco has gone mad… and at the same time, is a freaking genius.

Meanwhile, pop-punksters MAYDAY PARADE are on the flip-cover, as PULP prepares for the first annual Bazooka Rocks indoor music festival, featuring a massive lineup of international bands, headlined by The Pretty Reckless. Read about what makes this band tick, and find out how the experience has been for them so far.

ALSO IN THIS ISSUE:

MARIANAS TRENCH and Australia’s AVASTERA also talk Bazooka Rocks, and reveal how excited they are to play for their Filipino fans. THIS CENTURY talks about their latest release The Sound of Fire (made locally available through PULP Live Records) and is also part of the exclusive event coverage alongside SET YOUR GOALS and WE ARE THE IN CROWD, who performed at the Araneta Coliseum in the months before.
