Caren Tevanny Releases a New Single and Music Video for “Pano”
Words by Joey Dizon
Guitarist/vocalist and songwriter CAREN TEVANNY doesn’t take too many breaks—at least not with her music.
From her early beginnings as a guitarist in various underground progressive metal bands up to her being part of all-female mainstream rock band GENERAL LUNA to going solo, Caren is always plotting her next move and hard at work in the studio coming up with new material. Her sound, still rooted in heavy riffs and guitar solos but merged with pop melodies and electronic textures, definitely shows an evolution and maturity, as she’s delivering not just the licks but the melodic hooks as well.
You can listen to “Pano” here.
Joined live by her guitarist-husband James Molly, bassist Kit de Gala and drummer Tope Domingo, Caren shares that the creative process for the single was pretty incredible.
“I learned a lot working with [producer] Brian Lotho,” she begins. “Though the process was quite straightforward, it was challenging to express the emotion of the song since I wasn’t directly involved as the main character in the lyrics; recalling the feeling of a heartbreak proved to be tricky since obviously, it wasn’t a state I was in. They were simple words, but they had to be right; not overly metaphorical. But I do consider this to be one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.”
Caren also revealed that “Pano” is part of a full-length album that she’s putting the finishing touches on.
“I’m going to be releasing three newer singles before the actual album comes out, but in the meantime, I also released a music video for “Pano.”
