Sigrid collaborates with UK rock band Bring Me The Horizon,
drops her 2nd album ‘How To Let Go’

On May 6, 2022, Norwegian pop singer-songwriter Sigrid released her 2nd album ‘How To Let Go’ three years after the success of her debut album ‘Sucker Punch’. Overwhelmed by excitement, she shared how the 12-track LP was written in her mid-20s when she was thinking about her life in and out of Norway.

Touring for years without a proper break and at one point, I started to get confused like “where is home?” You constantly feel like you have one foot in and one foot out.” This is the inspiration for her favorite track in the album “It Gets Dark”. The song speaks about her fears, doubts, and all the negative things she had to get through to be where she is now. “It’s exciting when my favorite [song] gets traction”, Sigrid admits.

“Bad Life” is another track from the latest album gaining a lot of attention as it is a collaboration with UK rock band Bring Me The Horizon. The song was born after meeting the band backstage at the Reading and Leads Festival last year. “Me and the guys are fans of each other”, Sigrid recalls their first encounter leading to vocalist Oli Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish sending her the demo for “Bad Life”. “I didn’t know what to expect but I didn’t expect that song. I love the line “just a bad day not a bad life”. It will pass – [that is] the message of the song. We’re so proud of it”.

Sigrid also expressed how amazing it was to work with the band, finding joy in the lyric-writing process as she points out – “we come from different lyric-writing worlds”. She describes herself as a songwriter who always tries to put a positive spin on things but singing a song starting with a rather gloomy line, “Everyone’s damaged. A little depressed. Every now and then we get that feeling in our chest,” made her realize that everybody feels the same way at some point in their lives.
