Following the release of Sons of Apollo’s “Fall To Ascend” music video comes “Desolate July”. Another video directed by Christian Rios, “Desolate July” is a moving tribute to the late bassist of Adrenaline Mob, David Z. Watch the hauntingly melancholic video here:
It was back in July of 2017 when Adrenaline Mob got involved in a traffic collision accident that seriously injured some members of the band, including their touring manager, and cost the life of David Z.
Speaking of the track, Sons of Apollo vocalist, Jeff Scott Soto, says, “From the few seconds of hearing this song, it guided me to write the lyrics about our dear friend and colleague, David Z. David was one of the greatest, funniest and kindest humans I have ever known, he had friendships with most all of us in SOA but Mike and I were certainly the closest. I thought it fitting to include this tribute to him from us in this haunting, incredible body of music.”
“This video is a great tribute to our dear friend David Z. Jeff and I were particularly close with him and I was honored that Jeff invited me to sing the harmonies with him on the choruses for us to both share our love for our friend that was tragically taken from us way too soon” says Mike Portnoy.
“Desolate July” is the third music video and single to be released from Sons of Apollo’s upcoming album, MMXX, after “Goodbye To Divinity” and “Fall To Ascend” respectively. The album will be released worldwide on January 17th, 2020. Order the album here now.
