Legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart passed away last Tuesday on January 7th. after dealing with brain cancer (glioblastoma) for the past three and a half years. This has come as a shock for many as his condition was not disclosed to the public in all those years and was only known to his family and a select number of people from Peart’s inner circle.
The rest of the music world was understandably left with a shadow across their hearts upon learning of his passing. Peart’s inimitable skill behind the kit has largely influenced and inspired many of today’s greatest drummers. Tributes from various music acts had been rushing in since then from the likes of the KISS, Judas Priest, Metallica, Mike Portnoy, Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, and many more.
Music acts who were on tour as the news of Peart’s broke such as Dream Theater, Tool, and Styx also paid tribute to Peart by covering his works and by conducting respectful moments of silence for the late drummer.
