Prog legends Dream Theater are halfway through their Distance Over Time European Festival Tour. Kicking off the momentous tour in Solvesborg, Sweden last June 7th, the band has been on the road with over 30 dates scheduled in different countries throughout nearly two months.
Released in February 2019, Distance Over Time is Dream Theater’s fourteenth studio album and has also been the first release for the two-time GRAMMY-nominated band’s new label, InsideOut Music/Sony Music. The ongoing Festival tour features performances of fan-favorites from the new album, as well as established catalog classics, making for an exquisitely curated career-spanning set.
Making the tour even more special are guest appearances from some of today’s most prolific musicians in Metal and beyond. “[We’re] incredibly excited about these upcoming European festivals that will feature great friends of ours, some fantastic musicians,” said keyboardist Jordan Rudess ahead of the tour.
“We can’t wait to bring this amazing show to our fans in Europe, and I’m incredibly excited that we get to do so alongside some unbelievable artists like Andy McKee, Jason Richardson, and Tosin Abasi with Animals as Leaders,” added founding member, producer, and guitarist John Petrucci, calling these guests some of his personal favorite players who he’s had the pleasure of sharing the stage with.

If I could go back in time and tell my 14 year old self that I would be playing an acoustic guitar while on tour with @dreamtheaterofficial one day, I would have slapped my future self into next week. I’m grateful to them not only for the opportunity to perform for their fans but also for the genuine kindness and friendliness they’ve always extended to me. I look forward to the next time already.
Animals as Leaders, on the other hand, are renowned for their heavy and gritty tunes. The instrumental prog-metal band were also on a 10 Year Anniversary Tour with The Contortionist earlier this year, marking a decade since they started touring.
Last but not the least, Jason Richardson and Luke Holland are also sharing the stage with Dream Theater on this tour. Best known for his speed and technical prowess on guitar, Richardson released his own solo album, I, in 2017 and has since become a full-time member of All That Remains.
Only a couple dates left with Jason Richardson in Europe with Dream Theater! Thank you so much Turino, Italy. Tonight’s show was amazing. Tomorrow we are playing a one-off show with Whitechapel in Milan. 🎶 ‘Hos Down’ by Jason & I!

Luke Holland on the other hand is one of the most prolific drummers of his generation, and his flexibility in joining/collaborating with other musicians like Richardson shows this. Kickstarting his drumming career on Youtube dearly a decade ago now, he has gone on to make a name for himself as the drummer of The Word Alive from 2012 to 2016 and as a solo artist. Luke has since moved forward on a journey of musical growth and exploration, coming a long way from his first viral videos like his cover of Far East Movement’s “Like A G6” or his remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Bittersweet,” now also delving into the KPop world with his hit drum covers/remixes of BTS’ “Fake Love,” BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” and more.
After this stint with Jason Richardson sharing the stage with Dream Theater, and in some shows in the US, Luke Holland will be heading to the other side of the world for his Asia Tour. PULP Live World and Skesh Entertainment present Luke Holland Asia Tour 2019 Live in Manila, happening on September 6, 2019 at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA.
