As I Lay Dying Return With New Single My Own Grave

On June 2, As I Lay Dying released a teaser video for a new song that had fans speculating that the classic line-up had reunited. The video showed the band getting ready to play a song in a room of some sort, but it didn’t show much for anyone to really make out who the members were.

Now, the band has confirmed the fans’ speculation with a new single and music video, “My Own Grave.” The current line-up of the band consists of vocalist Tim Lambesis, drummer Jordan Mancino, guitarists Phil Sgrosso and Nick Hipa, and bassist Josh Gilbert.

Although it’s exciting that they’ve reunited and are releasing music again, we shouldn’t forget the reason why they broke up in the first place. In 2014, Lambesis was imprisoned for hiring a hitman (who was fortunately an undercover agent) to murder his ex-wife, Meggan Lambesis. If this had been successful, he would’ve left his three children without a mother. His six-year sentence was cut short in late 2016, when he was released on parole.

Tim Lambesis himself is not eager to let you forget about his crime. Aside from issuing a lengthy apology in December of 2017, this new song is also obviously about his regret for what he did. The chorus is a dead giveaway: “Buried alive inside my own grave, and there’s no one else to blame.”
