Funkatalyst Drops Remix of Notorious B.I.G’s ‘Machine Gun Funk’

The latest release from Bawal Clan producer Funkatalyst (real name Zion Dela Cruz) is a reimagining of Notorious B.I.G’s “Machine Gun Funk.” It answers the question, “What if Biggie was alive in 2018?”

It’s his belated birthday gift to the influential Brooklyn MC who he calls the “titan that ruled the sound waves of Hip Hop.”

“The idea was to innovate an already timeless tune,” he writes, “and to hear how Biggie Smalls would sound like on a futuristic beat.”

Originally produced by Easy Mo Bee, Biggie actually sounds more threatening over Dela Cruz’s sinister-sounding beat. The remix was announced back in May 23, two days after the late rapper’s 46th birthday.

“Chears to your day, Christopher ‘THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G.’ Wallace,” he wrote. “Days late but my boys there with you, let them know all is well.”

The song came with an audio-visual teaser by Nihilum Studios. Check it out: https://www.facebook.com/pg/funkatalyst/videos/
