Malcolm Young Has Passed Away
Malcolm Young, guitartist and co-founder of AC/DC, has passed away at age 64 after battling dementia for several years.
“With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band,” said a statement released yesterday, November 18, 2017, which confirmed the unfortunate news.

“Renowned for his musical prowess Malcolm was a songwriter, guitarist, performer, producer and visionary who inspired many. From the outset, he knew what he wanted to achieve and, along with his younger brother, took to the world stage giving their all at every show. Nothing less would do for their fans,” read another eulogy posted on the legendary band’s Facebook page.

It was in 2014 when the mastermind behind some of music history’s most iconic riffs was announced to be bowing out from the band. His nephew Stevie Young then took his place in AC/DC’s tour in support of their latest album ‘Rock or Bust’ released that same year.
Tributes for the legendary guitarist have come pouring in from all over the music world:

Malcolm is gone, and although his music lives on, there are no words to express this sadness. Bittersweet as it is, I’m happy he’s free from the dementia and in Heaven with Bon and his brother George. I owe so much to Malcolm Young… https://t.co/soxrFpQsmJ pic.twitter.com/YmUI6IH5sG

Wow…just got off stage here in Brisbane Australia (of all places) to the shocking news of Malcolm Young's passing. So sad…one of the great rhythm guitar players of all time. (James Hetfield and Scott Ian would be the 1st to say so themselves…) #RIPMalcolmYoung pic.twitter.com/qZXHIMpktF

"I’m sad to hear of the passing of Malcolm Young. It was great to get the opportunity to open for AC/DC on the Highway To Hell tour & we certainly learned a thing or two. He was an incredible guitar player & the glue for that band onstage & off. RIP Malcolm, say hi to Bon." – Joe

It is a sad day in rock and roll. Malcolm Young was my friend and the heart and soul of AC/DC. I had some of the best times of my life with him on our 1984 European tour. He will be missed and my deepest condolences to his family, bandmates and friends.

Malcolm Young’s passing comes weeks after the passing of older brother George Young, who co-produced the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ first five records.
